Book Reviews

This link just focuses on my book reviews. I do this to make it easier for the reader to find either my book reviews (on this page) or to view my professional publications related mainly to carnivores.

Way, J. 2020. Book Review – Wolf Island: Discovering the Secrets of a Mythic Animal, by L. David Mech and Greg Breining. Canadian Field-Naturalist 134: 394-395. This is a most interesting account of wolves on Isle Royale. Dave Mech is the Michael Jordan of wolf research, and this book goes back 60 years to when he first started his research on wolves. Dr. Mech is still active in the wolf research world and many of his findings from all of those years ago are still valid today!

Way, J.G. 2016. Coyotes finally get their own biography. Ecology 98(1): 285–287. This is a very cool book about coyotes that has received national attention.

Way, J.G. 2015. Book Review – Wolves on the Hunt: The Behavior of Wolves Hunting Wild Prey. Canadian Field-Naturalist 129: 297-299. This was perhaps my favorite book review of the last couple years of doing these reviews. Also, please refer to the right hand column side of page 2 (page 298 of the journal article) about the importance of national parks for a book like this to be able to come about.

McBride, B. 2009. Book Review – Suburban Howls: Tracking the Eastern Coyote in Massachusetts. Canadian Field-Naturalist 123: 83. A nice review of my book, Suburban Howls.
